Brie Larson In Talks For Captain Marvel

Marvel has their eyes set on yet another Oscar winner and we’ve got the details for you right now! It looks like Brie Larson has emerged as the frontrunner to star in Marvel Studios first female-led superhero movie. First reported by Variety and now confirmed by multiple sources, recent Oscar winner Brie Larson is in early talks to take on the role of “Captain Marvel” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While still early in the process, Larson is reportedly Marvel’s first choice to take on the role and she’s keen on playing the superhero often described as “Marvel’s mightiest Avenger” and “biggest female hero”. For those unfamiliar with Brie Larson, she started out as a child actor debuting on the 2001 sitcom Raising Dad and a small role in 2004’s 13 Going On 30. Her breakout role came in 2013’s Short Term 12 and most recently starred as Amy Schumer’s sister in last year’s Trainwreck and took home the Academy Award for Best Actress earlier this year for her role in Room. Since winning the Oscar she’s been taking on roles in both big blockbusters and smaller films including next year’s Kong: Skull Island where she stars next to Marvel alums Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston. As for “Captain Marvel”, she is an air force pilot named “Carol Danvers” whose DNA ends up infused with an alien known as the “Kree” after an accident. This leads to her possessing superhuman strength and endurance as well as the ability to fly on Earth and in space, and energy projection and absorption. A solo film is currently scheduled for March 8th, 2019, but the character is expected to make her debut in 2018’s Avengers Infinity War if not sooner. The Captain Marvel movie currently doesn’t have a director though The Hollywood Reporter’s sources say Marvel is currently eyeing The Babadook’s Jennifer Kent and McFarland USA director Niki Caro. The script is being written by Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman and Inside Out scribe Meg LeFauve.
